micheleseleneang: This past week, I had the honor of speaking at the graduation ceremony for my alma mater (Ruth Asawa School of the Arts) in San Francisco. A major recurring theme in my speech (and in my life) is finding the courage to believe in yourself, despite all obstacles, which might include your own mind. There are days where I can’t win, but there will never be a day where I don’t try to. Sharing this snippet with the hope that it might help whomever needs a little affirmation. Congrats to Class of 2017 all around the world! Shoutout to Momma Ang for the video. ☺️

EXCERPT: “I just really hope to remove the stigma attached to [suicide] and have a more open conversation about these topics because I totally can relate to that and I’m sure there are a lot of people in the world who feel like they can’t talk about it because, it’s like “oh if you’re not ok you’re gonna go crazy”, no, no. It’s just. You need someone to talk to and I just want people to know that they’re not alone and that there’s resources and people who care. And that’s where Selena [Gomez] and all of our executive producers and all of our cast members, like, really bonded because who doesn’t? Who doesn’t feel that way at least once in their lives? It’s good to know that there’s a community out there that cares and wants to help.”
